P365 SAS

The compact and innovative Sig Sauer P365 SAS pistol has swiftly established itself as a top option for concealed carry.

Overview

The Sig Sauer P365 SAS  is a micro-compact platformed, semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm and is rated for +P ammunition. It is designed for concealed carry and personal defense and ships with a 12-round flush fit magazine and a 15-round extended magazine. The SAS stands for “Sig Anti-Snag,” which refers to the gun’s sleek and streamlined design that reduces the likelihood of snagging on clothing or other objects.

Frame & Grip Features

The P365 SAS has a sleek design that maintains the compact size and the unique texturing pattern that makes all P365s very comfortable to shoot. The very top of the backstrap is smooth as is the area under the trigger guard. This was done so as not to irritate the most sensitive part of your hand when firing. In fact, texturing isn’t needed in these areas to keep a good grip on a pistol. It also has a proprietary rail mounting system on the bottom of the frame. In order to attach accessories, like a light or a laser, you may need to purchase an adapter to convert the rail to a standard size such as Picatinny. With its reversible magazine release control and no manual safety, this may be a good option for both left and right-handed shooters.

Sight & Optics

The P938 SAS features the ultra-low profile FT Bullseye Sight. This micro-optic pistol sight replaces the rear sight and eliminates the need for the front sight. It works like an ultra-compact red dot sight and is self-contained, which means it can be machined flush into the slide. This reduces the chance that the pistol will snag on the draw.

Trigger & Safety Controls

The Sig Sauer P365 SAS also has a consistent and smooth trigger pull. This helps to reduce felt recoil and improve accuracy, making it easier to shoot accurately and quickly. The trigger also has a tactile and audible reset, allowing for faster follow-up shots. Every P365 includes redundant internal safeties, but there is no trigger safety or manual safety.

Conclusion

Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or a first-time gun owner, the Sig Sauer P365 SAS is definitely worth considering if you want a reliable 9mm handgun that will be virtually snag-free when drawing from concealment. Keep in mind that micro-compacts are inherently easy to conceal, but they can also be difficult to get a good grip on, especially with larger hands. The P365 XL may make it easier, but as with all handguns, make sure you like how it feels when you hold it before you buy it.
