Do All States Require Concealed Carry Permits?

When it comes to issuing concealed carry permits, U.S states typically fall into one of two camps:

  • States that ‘Shall Issue’, or ‘May Issue’,  a concealed carry permit
  • States that DO NOT require a carry permit. These states are known as ‘Constitutional Carry’ or ‘Permitless Carry’ states.

Below is a U.S. map that will show which states fall in each camp. As of today, a majority of US states (26) abide by the Constitution and do not “infringe” on their citizen’s “rights to keep & bear arms” publicly.
